Geometry Problem 2
Two triangles are formed: triangle A has sides x, s, 20 and triangle B has sides x, (21-s), 13
A: x^2 + s^2 = 20^2
x^2 = 400 - s^2
B: x^2 + (21-s)^2 = 13^2
x^2 + 441 – 42s + s^2 = 169
x^2 = 169 – 441 +42s - s^2
400 - s^2 = -272 + 42s - s^2
672 = 42s
s = 672/42 = 16
A: x^2 = 400 - 16^2
x^2 = 144
x=12
Check with B: x^2 = 169 - 5^2
x^2 = 144
x=12
Therefore, the length of the altitude is 12.
A: x^2 + s^2 = 20^2
x^2 = 400 - s^2
B: x^2 + (21-s)^2 = 13^2
x^2 + 441 – 42s + s^2 = 169
x^2 = 169 – 441 +42s - s^2
400 - s^2 = -272 + 42s - s^2
672 = 42s
s = 672/42 = 16
A: x^2 = 400 - 16^2
x^2 = 144
x=12
Check with B: x^2 = 169 - 5^2
x^2 = 144
x=12
Therefore, the length of the altitude is 12.

Geometry Problem 1
- Bottom of box:
6 x 8 diagonal = h
h^2 = 36 + 64 = 100 so h = 10 - Triangle in center:
24 x 10 x c
576 + 100 = c^2
c = sqrt 676 = 26

In the spirit of Codes
Caesar squares always appear without spaces or punctuation and consist of a square (9 or 16 etc) number of letters. The letters alternate. Since this has nine letters the letters must shift three spaces.
